Honorary President:

Anthony Mangnall MP

I am proud to be the Member of Parliament for Totnes, a coastal constituency in South Devon.

I came up with the idea for the National Independent Lifeboat Association following a visit to Hope Cove Lifeboat in the summer of 2020. This visit highlighted the essential work of the UK’s independent lifeboats as well as the many challenges they face, including funding, public awareness and long-term support. Since this visit, I have worked with colleagues in Parliament as well as industry experts to form the charity, inviting existing volunteers from independent lifeboat organisations to form the trustee board and management committee.

Having previously held a parliamentary debate on independent lifeboats and garnered support from MPs and relevant Government departments, I will continue to work with NILA and be a voice for the organisation and its members within Parliament.
